Baby Photography

May 30th, 2009

Oh baby! How cute is she?! I was delighted when my friend asked me to photograph her family last week. With their newest addition (who's already 2 months old! time flies!) I couldn't wait to get my camera out and take some candid photos of her growing family. How proud they are to be parents of such beautiful children. Baby and toddler photos are some of the most precious kind. I hope you enjoy.

Yoga Photography and Natural Light Headshots

May 25th, 2009

090428gt0058I had the pleasure of meeting Melinda Polet a few weeks ago after she called me to get some photos done. She's a masseuse and Yoga teacher, among other things, and has an all around positive and dynamic personality, full of inspiration and creativity. I had fun photographing her different Yoga poses, and then finished the session with some natural light headshots. It was a delight getting to know her and I look forward to future photo sessions with her and her daughter! For more information about her services, visit her website at www.wpgmassage.com.

Photography Make-Up

May 22nd, 2009

little lady bug found on my porch window, just before the photo shoot. :)

More is actually less. For someone who doesn't wear that much make-up, having a moderate amount on feels like a lot. But you have to remember that when you're getting your photo taken, more is less. Make-up artists know that more make-up is needed before a photo shoot, and as these photos prove, it's true! My sister Rachel and I had our make-up done at Clinique at The Bay downtown today by the lovely Christina. We hardly ever wear make-up, but since our sister's wedding is coming up, we went for a demo in preparation for her big day. I convinced Rachel (it took much convincing) to stop in for a bit at my place to do a mini photo shoot of each other in my porch. I hate being in front of the camera, but for this make-up test, we wanted to see how it would look like on camera. (after a quick lesson on how to use my dslr, Rachel was pretty good at taking pictures!)

So as you can see, even though we had quite a bit of make-up on, it's hardly noticeable on camera. For make-up to really stand out in photos, you really have to intensify it. Like, in this photo. (done by my friend Melissa Finch). But for now, here are our shots from this afternoon:

Engagement Photos!

May 20th, 2009

090516gt0919One of my 2 sisters is getting married, so that can only mean one thing: I finally get to do an engagement photo session with one of my very own siblings! It's always fun to be photographing someone near and dear to me, and this was my chance to capture her and her love, André.

You'll notice in a couple of the pictures her engagement ring that was designed by André at Bijou, an awesome local jewerly shop here in Winnipeg. They make some of the nicest jewelry in Winnipeg, and they're located in the heart of St. Boniface. And no, I was not paid to write all this,  I truly think this little shop deserves to be talked about! They do awesome work (and their rings have been featured in some of my other shoots too).

It was hard to narrow it down, but after 750 photos from our one hour shoot, I'm posting my 19 favourite ones. Make sure to scroll down to the last 4 "outtakes". (and trust me, I would only ever post outtakes of Christine. She's wired in a special way to produce great expressions!) Oh the Touchette quirks come out, for sure...

If you're wondering, these photos were taken at Little Red Park in Prince Albert, SK. This is where André grew up, and I must say, he comes from a very beautiful part of the country! The park had more than enough scenic places to photograph. I was thrilled to have such a great back drop for such a cute couple!

Saskatchewan's not that boring

May 18th, 2009

Ok, I must admit, I have never been to Saskatchewan, except a couple times to drive through the province to get to the other side. Well, after all the jokes about how boring Saskatchewan is, I must say that it isn't quite what I expected. The province is more beautiful and interesting than I thought, and I'm here to show why. Now don't get me wrong, I'm from Manitoba, and having lived here all my life, I think it's easy for me to love Saskatchewan's landscape. What with the big open skies, the colourful fields and the gentle rolling hills... there's nothing like a long drive on the highway in the prairies. Even in the "dead" of spring! (Yes, dead. There was snow in May.)

I spent the weekend in Prince Albert, and let me tell you, that's quite a few hours of driving. I had time to take a few shots, as well as edit a few images while in the car with my trusty laptop. What else is there to do in the 10 hour drive?
