Krystal & Brad: Wedding Photography

July 30th, 2009

I met Krystal and Brad through my friend Trevor and it didn't take long before I knew I was going to have fun with these guys. Brad's energy and sarcasm had me laughing and Krystal's sweetness and honesty makes you feel right at home. It was a beautiful sunny day and the wedding party pictures at the St. Boniface Cathedral were definitely the highlight of the day for me. Also a highlight was the couple speech - Brad shared a poem that he got from Krystal a long time ago, and seeing the depth and sincerity of their love was moving, to say the least.

Thanks for a great day and being so much fun! I hope you enjoy all your photos!

Before and After: the evolution of a photo

July 23rd, 2009

To some, professional photographers are a bit of a mystery. People often approach me and make a comment about the size of my camera and its mysterious buttons. Sure, a good camera can go a long way when having to capture great images, but post-production is often just as important when delivering the final product. And often post-production is the process that seems the most obscure and foreign to people. In the past 2 years I've had a love affair with Adobe Lightroom. Let me tell you, as a former student and now teacher of this software, I have spent countless hours with it. It's really like an appendage to my shutter finger. A while back I showed a comparison of an image before edits and after, just to give you an idea of the importance of post-production. I've gathered a few more examples for today. If you're a nerdy photographer like me, chances are you love the \ key when in the develop module of Lightroom. ( \ is the before and after key) It's the most fun I get after hours of editing!

So here's a taste of the \ key...

Chantale & Michel - Wedding Photography

July 21st, 2009

Chantale and Michel got married on a very windy, wet, cold June Saturday. But it barely phased them! Michel stocked up on dollar-store umbrellas and we had a plan of action for photo locations: the Via Rail Station, the Red River College Princess Street Campus and the Legislative Building. They were an increadibly positive and happy couple - their enthusiasm and zest for life is contageous! We had fun running around taking pictures and making the most of a stormy day. It made for some pretty awesome photos with our lighting kit, and thanks to my 2nd photographer Duncan for helping me set up lights and drag them around. The results are great and most importantly, Chantale and Michel loved the photos! Félicitations vous deux, je suis super heureuse pour vous et je vous souhaite tout le bonheur que la vie peut vous apporter !
