Today my baby daughter is 1! It's hard to believe that the day actually comes, but here it is, and I couldn't have felt more love for her even if I tried! It's been an amazing journey - from experiencing pregnancy and watching (feeling) a life forming inside of me... to giving birth... to watching as this tiny baby (who seemingly appeared out of nowhere!) grows into a beautiful little person. How could this be? I am completely and utterly in awe of the whole process of how tiny human beings come to life. It's mind-blowing to say the least and an immense honour to witness. And what can I say? Élise is the most beautiful, dynamic, intriguing, intense, loveable little person I've ever met. She's a constant source of joy, love and passion. She makes us laugh all the time and reminds us of how fun and wonderful life really is. She has taught me many new lessons in selflessness, and continues to soften my heart and inspire me to hope. She is a HUGE gift, one that I hope I never take for granted. And the best part of it? Knowing that Chad is with me and the most amazing Papa a baby girl could ever want. Thank you Chad for making this past year not only manageable with work and parenting, but also a ton of fun! I couldn't have done all of this without you!

(today I took the day off and we did a fun family photo shoot at the studio to capture this momentous occasion with all her new birthday gifts!)
Élise's first cake-eating experience was uneventful. She picked at it a bit, took a few bites, then got bored. She gets more excited about mushed up kale! Crazy kid.
